Homecoming Game 08

The girls with last year's Homecoming Queen... the girls LOVE Katie! We miss her!

Jay Novacek was at the game to present the autographed football raffled off for our booster club! Brent and Andra are looking at the winning name with disbelief!

One of our elementary teachers won the football... she wins EVERYTHING!! She has to be the luckiest person around. It was so funny when Brent said her name... she came running onto the track with her green hair and green hairpiece with her face all painted. Novacek started running down the field from her! If he only knew how crazy she really is! :o)

Brent and Maddie... a picture for old times sake! It is hard to get them to pose together anymore. It is heart-breaking after the MANY pictures together in Pre-K! Kenzie is playing with the boys in the background.

And... we won the game!

Homecoming Pep Rally

A rare family photo... Kenzie was plugging her ears because the band was playing.

Maddie's sign said, "My Dad Rocks." She wanted to put My Dad Rocks the House, but that would have used too many stickers. She told me that Dad rocks the house at his school, but I rock the house at my school... but she wanted to make a sign for her daddy.

The other side of Maddie's sign. She wanted her name on there too.

Walking back to the elementary with the big kids.

Her balloon bouquet was waiting for her when she got to my room.

Abigail, Gracie and Christin's very talented and creative mom made these adorable eagle cookie treats... how cute is that??? I took up close pictures too--like I will ever make them!
Maddie with her balloons after school.

Today was WILD at school... I think it was worse than the last day of school! The kids were wound up for sure! It is days like these that give meaning to TGIF!!

Now it is time to get ready for the game. More pictures to come...

Granny's Birthday

Happy Birthday Granny!!
For Granny's birthday, we met at Chachi's in Glen Rose for dinner.

The girls and I went to Glen Rose as soon as the parade was over. We went home for them to change because Maddie didn't like the way the pockets looked on her capris she wore to school... what am I going to do with her in middle school???? I also had to grab Granny's present... the real reason we went home. We had a good time, and it was nice to see everyone that went.

Eagle pictures 08

Eagle Mascot Pictures
Homecoming Week
Our KPT (Kids-Parents-Teachers) organization takes pictures with the Eagle to make buttons each year, and they added keychains this year. It is a great fundraiser for our school.

Kenzie loves the Eagle, but wasn't too sure about sitting in his lap! She did ok, but would not relax her arms... And I know, pink flip-flops with her cheer outfit (7:00 in the morning, who needs tennis shoes!)

Feeling better...

Maddie looked much better and felt much better on Friday...
Her lips still hurt and there were a couple of spots on her face, but nothing like before!!
These pictures were on Friday morning...

From Sassy to Rashy!

Maddie was really feeling a little better from her strep, but then...

Dustin picked her up from school about 10 (she was crying not wanting to leave school because "they might learn something new") so she could get some rest and recover fully. He sent me a text right before lunch and said her rash was back. She had gotten a rash Tuesday afternoon on her ears and neck, but it went away with Benadryl. I called the pharmacy because the dr. office was already closed, and they seemed to think it was just from the strep. Wednesday it was MUCH worse! We went back to Waco to the dr. and he thought it was an allergic reaction to the penicillin. She is on a different antibiotic now for strep and Benadryl every 6 hours for the reaction.
Today is her very first day to miss a whole day of school!! She had perfect attendance in Pre-K and Kindergarten, but she won't have it this year. It makes me sad, but she needed a day to rest.
Children amaze me!!! She has strep throat, an allergic reaction causing a rash from HEAD to TOE (even on her scalp!) and she is still SMILING!!! You wouldn't have even known anything was wrong with her if you couldn't see the rash everywhere!

By the end of the day...

Her lips looked like she had on red lipstick.

She is feeling and looking much better today. She still has a little bit of the rash, but is up and playing like normal!

Dr. appts and Goats

After I had everything ready and loaded for school this morning, Maddie asked me to put some medicine on her "bites." When I looked at her legs and feet, they were covered with a rash. She hasn't felt real well all weekend, but she really didn't have much of a fever (just pretty low-grade)... just a headache all weekend that was starting to worry me. When I saw the rash, I knew the dr. appt. couldn't wait until this afternoon. Kenzie had also been complaining about her ear hurting when she (or anyone else) touched it. So we went to school to get things ready for a sub and grab Maddie's work. We headed to Waco to see the dr. She was saying her neck hurt too and was really stiff not wanting to move it too much. He asked her if her throat hurt, but she said it didn't. He was amazed at how bad it looked! The nurse did a strep test that usually takes 5 min., but hers turned positive after 45 seconds! He wasn't sure about the rash because it didn't look like a typical strep rash, and he had 2 other drs. look at it... they also couldn't believe how bad her throat looked and it wasn't hurting her. We will wait and see about the rash. We are hoping it is just because of the strep and will go away soon. Kenzie also had an outer ear infection. Fun day!
After we got their prescriptions, we went to Clifton to visit Nonnie and Pa. Nonnie was at work so we visited her school for a little while. It was fun to see the people there... hopefully we didn't get anyone sick!
After we left the school, we went to see Pa and his new baby goats...

Baby goats everywhere!!
