It has been a ROUGH couple of days around our house! After a 3 1/2 year addiction, we are getting rid of the paci! She is definitely going through withdrawals... crying, fit throwing, grouchy and just plain mean at times! We started last Friday talking about a new Barbie if she could go without her paci at night. She was excited about a new Barbie. We told her she had to throw her pacifiers in the trash, and be a big girl. She had 4 of them in her hand... she was kissing them and crying the biggest tears. It was a pretty sad sight... I wish I had my camera for that. But, after more talk about ANY Barbie she wanted, she was excited about throwing them away.
She made it through her nap (not happily), and was still VERY grouchy when she woke up! She was fine once she started playing, but then bedtime... oh my goodness can that girl cry... it really broke my heart and I wanted to give in, but Dustin talked me out of it... he is right, we have to do it sometime and it won't get any easier. She made it through the night, but wanted it as soon as she woke up... another rough 30 minutes or so. After we got up and got ready for VBS, she was fine. As soon as I picked them up from VBS, we headed to Wal-Mart to get a Barbie... any Barbie she wanted... which of course was one that cost $25! It is 7:30 and so far, so good, but we didn't have a nap today (when she would normally want it)... I opted for Splash Station instead! I am sure we have another long night ahead of us, but she is really tired...so it could be easier, or it might make it worse. Only time will tell!
