Goin' COLD TURKEY!!

It has been a ROUGH couple of days around our house! After a 3 1/2 year addiction, we are getting rid of the paci! She is definitely going through withdrawals... crying, fit throwing, grouchy and just plain mean at times! We started last Friday talking about a new Barbie if she could go without her paci at night. She was excited about a new Barbie. We told her she had to throw her pacifiers in the trash, and be a big girl. She had 4 of them in her hand... she was kissing them and crying the biggest tears. It was a pretty sad sight... I wish I had my camera for that. But, after more talk about ANY Barbie she wanted, she was excited about throwing them away.

That lasted until bedtime... she did NOT care about a Barbie and wanted her paci...RIGHT NOW. I gave in and gave her a paci, but no Barbie. We went with this for almost a week. Yesterday was the day... NO MORE PACI. It has not been pretty and not a job for the weak! There is just NO reasoning with this little girl! (Maddie loved her paci too, but we could reason with her... she was much easier even though she was 3 1/2 also!)
She made it through her nap (not happily), and was still VERY grouchy when she woke up! She was fine once she started playing, but then bedtime... oh my goodness can that girl cry... it really broke my heart and I wanted to give in, but Dustin talked me out of it... he is right, we have to do it sometime and it won't get any easier. She made it through the night, but wanted it as soon as she woke up... another rough 30 minutes or so. After we got up and got ready for VBS, she was fine. As soon as I picked them up from VBS, we headed to Wal-Mart to get a Barbie... any Barbie she wanted... which of course was one that cost $25! It is 7:30 and so far, so good, but we didn't have a nap today (when she would normally want it)... I opted for Splash Station instead! I am sure we have another long night ahead of us, but she is really tired...so it could be easier, or it might make it worse. Only time will tell!

Maddie's new room...

We got all new bedding and such for Maddie's room... we had to get rid of that "baby princess stuff."
I repainted her name letters on her window to match the bedding.
I took out the 3 8X10 princess pictures and made scrapbook collages of Maddie and her friends... I thought it turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself!! You really can't tell much from this picture though!

Maddie said that if I got her new bedding, she would sleep in her own bed... and here she is!! 4 nights in a row so far... and proud owner of a new Barbie for doing it! (BTW... that isn't a real child with her... just a HUGE baby doll!)

Jax & Lo

Lorin... all smiles!

Kenzie... SUPERSTAR

Maddie... in charge

Maddie, Kenzie and Jaxon... the pool wasn't very big, but they had fun!

Kenzie lovin' on Lorin.

Jaxon... that boy is ALWAYS playing basketball!

Maddie loves to hold Lorin.

We spent the day in Waco on Wednesday... after the boys got back from playing golf in Austin, Melinda and I got to go shopping just like old times! We miss shopping with each other!!

VBS

Makinley, Madison and Maddie

This was Kenzie's first year at VBS... she LOVED it!! I took them to the FUMC because it was the only one in town that Kenzie was old enough for. She felt like such a big girl! She did great almost every morning walking right in without a fuss. She wasn't sure at first, but warmed up quickly. Maddie loved it too... especially after we put her in the same group as the twins!

Caleb's 8th and Kole's 2nd Birthday Party!

Caleb and Kole

Last weekend we went to Comanche for Caleb and Kole's birthday party. The girls always have a blast in Uncle Wendall and Aunt Mary's pool.

Great Wolf Lodge

On Father's Day , we took the girls to stay at the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine. They had a blast!! We will definitely be going back.
In our room...

Storytime in the main lobby...
the girls were watching and listening closely

Yummy ice cream after supper

Even the trash cans were fancy!

Maddie's favorite part was going across the lily pads.

Kenzie's favorite part was the little kiddie area... she had a blast going down the slides.

Dustin and Maddie spent LOTS of time squirting people!

I also took a whole water camera, but NONE of them turned out. It was hard to get good pictures since it was all inside (there is an outside part also, but there was more for the girls to do inside). I had to use the night portrait mode on my camera to get clear pictures.
The girls had so much fun, and of course, they were not ready to leave!
