First Day of First Grade

On our way to school...

About 4:45 on Sunday (the night before the first day of school) Maddie decided that she wasn't sure she really wanted the Hello Kitty backpack she picked out (which I had tried numerous times to talk her out of anyway). So, being the rotten kid she is, we headed to Bealls which is right down the road. I refused to drive 30 minutes away to Kohls... I had too much to do to get ready for school. (Truth be told, I would have gone if we didn't find one she liked at Bealls... I know, SUCKER!!) We walked into Bealls at 5:50... they closed at 6:00. She found this backpack and decided it was "The One." I wonder why she is so rotten??? I will still blame it on Nonnie and Granny! :o)

Mommy and Maddie
"Education is a Treasure" is our school theme this year... there are pirates and treasures everywhere! Maddie told me when school was over that she was already used to her class, but she didn't like the theme... "pirates are dead." How many 1st graders are even aware of the theme??

Mrs. Montgomery
Mrs. Cheek

When we were eating supper tonight, Dustin was asking Maddie about her day. He asked her if they had recess, and if it was hot. She said, "Yes, I was sweatin' hot chasing all those boys." Not quite the answer we were expecting!! Too funny.

Kenzie's day started out pretty rough. As soon as she woke up she was crying about wanting to go to school with me, and she didn't have any of her "family" with her (from a 3 year old), and she wanted Maddie to go to Bonnie's with her. When I dropped her off, she was clinging to me and crying. It was so sad!! The teacher next to me said she was fine when she dropped off her little boy so that made me feel better. I can't wait until next year when she gets to go with us.

Back to School Party at Splash Station

The KPT (Kids, Parents, Teachers Organization) rented Splash Station for the RVE staff, students and their families. It is just a kick-off for going back to school. The kids had a great time, but it was cut short due to a storm moving in... bummer!! They plan to reschedule so more pics to come.

Too cute...

Sometimes you just have to go grab the camera...
Kenzie came walking into the office while I was updating the blog... she was walking like a bride walking up the aisle with her big diamond on her finger. It was so cute! Of course, when I got my camera, she had to start posing. (Her idea of weddings is what she sees on her princess movies... we went to a wedding this summer and she asked which one was the prince as the groom and groomsmen were standing at the front. Then during the wedding she asked if the bride was Cinderella. It was too cute!)

Maddie couldn't be left out of the photo shoot...

Meet the Teacher

We had Meet the Teacher tonight at our school. Maddie went to see her new 1st grade teachers. I can't believe I have a FIRST GRADER!!!

Maddie was SO excited to get Mrs. Montgomery for her teacher. Mrs. Montgomery was an aide for Maddie's Pre-K class, but she became a teacher last year. We are very excited and looking forward to a great year!

I decorated some clipboards for Maddie's teachers. I had seen these before, but had not attempted to make one. My friend Meghan gave me one (that her mother made...thanks Susan!), and she made it sound so easy... it wasn't too difficult, but I did end up injured! I should take a picture of my broken fingernail... painfully in the quick! I thought they turned out really cute though.

Lia's Birthday Party

These pictures were right before we left... I didn't take pictures during the party. (not like me, I know!)

Water Fun...

We cooked out Saturday night for some friends, and let the kids play in the water... before watching the Cowboys of course!

Kade didn't mind swimming in a purple pool...

Splashing fun...

Kenzie was showing Kade how it is done...

And he's off...

They had so much fun playing in the water. It was DARK outside and they still didn't want to go inside, but the daddies were ready to watch the Cowboys.

Hawaiian Falls

Makinley, Kenzie, Maddie and Madison

Look at that pose!

Kenzie and Makinley

Maddie and Madison went on this ride all by themselves... I wish I had my camera when they were carrying that double tube up those stairs.
They LOVED it!!

Snack time!

Kenzie went on this purple slide 20+ times... she loved it! As soon as she climbed out, she would run around to the stairs to go again.

Makinley, Madison and Maddie getting ready to go down...
They loved it so much they went right back up to go again...

The big girls were able to ride every single ride in the place... it is a GREAT place for little kids. They had so much fun!
This is where Kenzie spent most of her time... joined by Makinley after one of the big rides scared her a little.
Some more of the big slides...
Sweet Kenzie...
Aby and I took the girls to Hawaiian Falls in Mansfield today. It was the perfect size... and the rides were great. You only had to be 42" to ride all the rides. Kenzie wasn't too happy about it, but she had fun in the kiddie area. She found the perfect slide for her! It was a fun day!!
