July 4th Weekend in Austin

On Friday morning, the girls and I headed to Clifton to go to Austin with my parents and Granny to see Uncle Brian and Aunt Theresa. It sure was nice not having to make the 16 hour trip to Kentucky like we did 5 years in a row! Austin was a much nicer drive...especially since Kenzie is talking now. The last trip to Kentucky, Kenzie was only 18 months old and not nearly as loud! We celebrated the 4th in Clifton last year since Brian and Theresa had just recently moved back to Texas. We had to keep up with the tradition of spending the 4th with them!

Kenzie showing off her socks to Uncle Brian... she didn't have anything on him with his HOT PINK CROCS! My brother is a little strange!!
Theresa bought Brian a new Weber grill for his birthday (that isn't until the end of this month), and the box provided HOURS of entertainment this weekend.
We went out to Dripping Springs to see the fireworks. It was so pretty out there. It was such a nice night. We even had a half time show during the fireworks...sort of like a parade (fire trucks with lights anyway!) They had to stop the show so the fire department could put out the grass fire they started. It was a great display though...worth the wait!

Sitting around before the fireworks...Renee, Theresa, Brian and the girls

When we got home from the fireworks, Aunt Theresa made a yummy dessert and the girls helped clean up the dishes.

Popping some poppers!

Decorating Uncle Brian with the streamers.

On Saturday night, we headed downtown to see the bats.

On the boat going out to see the bats.

It was really amazing to see the bats fly out... my pictures just didn't really capture it. There were just so many of them!!

The whole bridge was PACKED with people watching the bats fly out.

Making a silly face...
After the boat ride, we went down to the park by the river for a while. I just don't see where those girls get their energy!!

It was a fun trip!! And, I am SO glad it was only a few hours home!!
And by the way... Kenzie has been without her paci for 10 days!!! I think we have finally done it...she hasn't even cried for it in a couple of days. It was ROUGH!!!
